#Juneathon Day 25 - middle son finished school and running

Middle son did his last A level exam today, that's it, he's finished school!  Well I suppose he has a school prom but he won't be wearing his uniform again. And guess what, he came home and went for a run :-)

I went for a run (a bit later) too, 7.1 miles and very pleasant it was too.  My Juneathon total is now 87 miles.

#Juneathon Day 24 - Garmin went flat, a bit like how I felt today

Didn't feel brilliant today but went for a run all the same.  Half way I stopped to watch the Thames roll by and the geese swimming up and down, very relaxing and just what I needed.  Garmin battery went flat, I must have not had the clip connected correctly.  I estimated the run to be about 6.4 miles, I've run the route so many times!

My Juneathon total is now 80 miles.

#Juneathon Day 23 - walk, run and Olympic tickets

Went for a really nice walk today of about 4 miles (I guess) with wife, eldest son's girlfriend and her parents, and Fleet and their dog.  Stopped at the pub next to the river for lunch.  A really good time :-)

Then went for a 5 mile run before the forecasted 'heavy rain' ... which hasn't happened yet.

Also received our tickets for the Olympics today, we're all very excited.

Juneathon total is now 74 miles.

#Juneathon Day 22 - curry and then gym :-s

Went to the gym again with my lovely wife :-)  I did not feel like going, we had a curry this evening!  Still, we went and once we got started then it became easier.  Most of the weight training is done on highish reps but I'm slowly increasing the weights. Included about 20 minutes of rowing done as intervals and also a gradually increasing session on the treadmill as a warm up.  Core exercises are getting easier too.

Curry reminded me that it was there after the session, but all okay.

#Juneathon Day 21 - core workout

Good half hour of exercise and weight training concentrating on core and upper body today. Stretched well so hoping I don't ache.

Eldest son and his girlfriend made dinner tonight which helped quite a bit. Youngest son off on French Exchange tomorrow, I think he's quite excited :-) Middle son is writing maths A level module tomorrow, two more maths modules on Monday and then he's finished!

#Juneathon Day 20 - :-) today

My wife and I went to the gym this evening, we left just before closing time.  It is definitely getting easier even with the back end of a cold :-)

Just before the gym and dinner, I went to Cubs where we made fires, cooked sausages and toasted marshmallows - no major burns :-)

Also today I finally cracked the bug in the system I've been working on and I have pictures :-)

And the two books on quantum mechanics that I ordered arrived :-)

So today has been a :-) day.

19 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 19 - was going to go to the gym ...

... but didn't!  So squeezed in a 3 mile run as the sun set.  Birds were singing merrily which helped me forget my cold, not feeling brilliant.

Juneathon total is 67 miles.

18 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 18 - why did I do Juneathon?

I've really been too busy today and I have no time to go for a run, but I do so because of Juneathon and because my dog wants me to. It was a really hard run too.  And I still haven't got over my cold.  And I'm stuck on a problem in my work :-( Why am I doing Juneathon?  Did I tell you that it was a really hard run and I only ran 3.5 miles. Sigh!

My Juneathon total = 64 miles
Fleet's Juneathon total = 55 miles

17 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 17 - to gym I went

To gym with wife I went.  Hard session today it was. Included 3.5 miles of intervals it did. Hot and sweaty I am.  Nobody now near me will they come!

= 60 miles of Juneathon running

Time for a beer :-)

#Juneathon Day 16 - I almost didn't

I almost didn't run, I just felt too tired and I've a bit of a cold and I've been helping at the Scout Village Fair today and I picked up my son and his girlfriend from Gatwick this morning and only got to bed at 3ish, I almost didn't go for a run, and it was really just too windy and I was sure it was going to rain and it was too late. Nope, I almost didn't run but I did, and Fleet had a swim :-)

3.8 miles, my Juneathon total is 57 miles and Fleet's total is 51 miles.

15 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 15 - windy run and feeling better

I expected to be rained on this evening but fortunately I was just blown around.  Pleasant easy run with a headwind at times.  Feeling a bit better.  5.3 miles and Fleet had a swim too.

Picking up my eldest son and his girlfriend from Gatwick tomorrow morning at about 1am :-s, sigh!

My total Juneathon mileage is 53 miles and Fleet's is 47 miles.

#Juneathon Day 14 - not feeling brilliant

Went to the gym with my wife tonight.  I didn't feel like going, I have been feeling a bit under the weather today - the weather's probably not helping either.  Fizzled out on the last aerobic session, hopefully I'll feel better tomorrow. Ran just over a mile on the treadmill.

13 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 13 - sunshine morning run, thank you Juneathon

A sunshine morning run made me feel good today and Fleet had a swim too.  Then it was off for a meeting which went well but I did get back late.  Had I not being doing Juneathon I doubt I would have gone for a run this morning so thank you Juneathon :-)

Fleet's Juneathon mileage is now 42 miles and mine is 46 miles.

12 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 12 - Enjoying the stretching

Tonight I went to the gym with my wife. Warm up and first aerobic session on the treadmill and then I went through a fairly standard weight session concentrating on higher reps.  Included about 20 minutes of rowing.  Really enjoyed the stretching at the end, I think I 've manged to turn my stretching from painful to more enjoyable sessions.

I have no idea how I will fit exercise in tomorrow? Oh well!

11 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 11 - surgically taped nips in anticipation

Wet and windy today so a good, hard 7 mile run.  Surgical taped my nips just in case of downpour (not together), wet running shirt/vest seems to act like sandpaper for me - is this a common male problem? Is this exclusively a male problem? Surgical tape is very effective :-) No downpour, just wind (not mine) and rain. Quick removal of surgical tape was relatively painless :-s

Another 7 miles makes my Juneathon total 42 miles and Fleet's total is 38 miles.

10 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 10 - gym session with treadmill and 1948 Olympics

3.7 miles interval session on the treadmill followed by a fairly hard gym session with my wife.  It went well and hopefully I won't ache tomorrow.

Also received a 1948 ticket and programme for the Olympics on the same date that we will be going this year :-) We should be able to mount them together with our tickets ... doubt I could get hold of 1908 London Olympic ticket for the same day! Well maybe?

Juneathon total is now 35 miles and Fleet's is 31 miles, well he wasn't allowed in the gym!  We're both on 31 miles of running outside though

09 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 9 - hedge cutting!!

I cut the hedge today and cleared up by myself ... our hedge is over 6 feet tall and quite deep. Whew!

I think we're going to the gym tomorrow but I might squeeze a run in. That's it I'm afraid :-)

08 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 8 - it's more like Janathon

... aching has subsided (a little), so have my energy levels (a lot)!  But I went for a windy 7.2 miles with Fleet.  And I'm very hungry now.  And thirsty. And it feels like Janathon not Juneathon out there, the participant logo should change.

Juneathon mileage for Fleet and me is now 31 miles.

07 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 7 - another gym session

What can I write about a gym session?  I spent quite a bit of time on the rowing machine, lots of reps with the weights, it was pretty quiet!  Pleased to be getting down to the gym and I'm really concentrating on the stretching. That's it really - hopefully I don't ache as much tomorrow ...

06 June 2012

#Juneathon 6 - a jog with aching muscles and my TMA

Gym session yesterday was perhaps a bit too good!  Aching everywhere today which meant short 3.4 mile run with Fleet was quite a bit painful and subsequently quite slow. My wife and I had planned to go to the gym tonight but it would have been a bit too painful, hopefully we will go tomorrow night.

But I did get 98% in my TMA (I'm studying Quantum Mechanics) which I was very pleased with :-)

Juneathon total for me and Fleet is now 24 miles.

05 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 5 - gym session

Good session at the gym today of 1 hour and 15 minutes.  Gym was quite busy which was a bit surprising.  My wife and I are going to try and get down the gym about three times a week from here on.

No extra Juneathon miles although I probably did about 2 miles on the treadmill but I wasn't really checking so I won't add them.

#Juneathon Day 4 - smiling people, pride and dancing in a graveyard

Went for another run with my faithful dog and everybody was so friendly :-)  The Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrations has definitely had a very positive effect on the people here, almost every person I ran past smiled and said hello!  I'm sure it wasn't quite the same with Golden Jubilee.

I must say that the jubilee celebrations have made me feel proud to be British ... but I also feel proud that we can have a protest against the monarchy, and it is reported (by many), and it is tolerated (by many), and it is respected (by some ... hopefully many).

But enough of that and my political views. I ran 6 miles today, got home and then dashed off to the Denham Village Fair, carefully skirting around all the road closures and street parties.  There we watched my youngest son perform a group street dance in a graveyard - I think they carefully cut out the 'Thriller' section out of respect.  He danced really well and I felt very proud. So a good day :-)

Finally just to add that Fleet's and my Juneathon total is now 20 miles.

03 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 3 - a damp run squeezed in

Managed to do a wet 5.31 mile run this morning with Fleet. Only runners and dog walkers out this morning - but no other dog runners :-)

My and Fleet's Juneathon total is 14 miles.

02 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 2 - Quick run then off to Cub Camp

Went for run with bruises and patches.  Took it easy, great running weather.  Off to Cub Camp with my four ballistas ... although the inner car tubing didn't seem that elastic!

Run today was 5.29 miles.
Juneathon total is 9 miles for both me and Fleet.

01 June 2012

#Juneathon Day 1 - a bloody knee :-(

Yep, first run on the first day of Juneathon and I trip and gash my knee!  Oh well, a curtailed run of 3.8 miles with Fleet.

I almost didn't do Juneathon this year but decided that if I do it then I will keep it sensible.  I also need to do some swimming and gym work before our holiday.  And I'm probably just too busy but ... I'm here :-)

My Juneathon mileage is 3.81 miles
Fleet's mileage 3.81 miles
